Number of laps by drivers has significantly increased since the first test in Jerez as more drivers completed over 200 during the course of the four days. Lotus were forced to pull out of the test after completing only seven laps. Timo Glock only got one day in the car, as did Valtteri Bottas.

McLaren completed the most number of laps in total in Barcelona – a significant step from last year’s pre-season testing when the team struggled due to reliability.  Lotus were forced to pull out of the test after just seven laps on the first day. Williams have continued with their high number of laps while Toro Rosso and Caterham suffered reliability problems which hindered their progress.

Kamui Kobayashi and Pastor Maldonado moved to the top of the time-sheets. Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button were separated by two thousandths of a second while Felipe Massa and Lewis Hamilton were also separated by two thousandths. The top ten were separated by just over a second.

Sauber set the fastest lap-time overall on the last day, not much ahead of Williams and Force India. Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren and Mercedes were also in close company. Teams will test again in Barcelona next week before the season starts in three weeks.
