Guy Martin wins big at Oliver’s Mount

Guy Martin has kicked off his 2014 road racing campaign with a hat-trick of wins at Oliver’s Mount in Scarborough.

The Tyco Suzuki rider, who also won three races last year, won both Superbike races – including the Ian Watson Spring Cup trophy feature race – and the Supersport class. Martin kicked off his day with a win in the first Superbike race, finishing four seconds clear of Dean Harrison in second with Lee Johnston six seconds further back in third. He then went on to beat Harrison and James Cowton in the only Supersport race of the event. Ivan Lintin was victorious in both Supertwin races, comfortably beating returnee Ryan Farquhar and James Cowton. Jamie Hamilton finished in fourth place.

Elsewhere, Alistair Haworth won the lightweight class, beating Seamus Elliott and Justin Waring in the first race, and Nick Anderson and Elliott in the second. Ian and Carl Bell won both of the F2 Sidecar races, both by comfortable margins.

Next on the road racing calendar is the Cookstown 100, taking place on the 25th and 26th April.
