Ulster Grand Prix Race Week

Race week for the Ulster Grand Prix – the world’s fastest road race – is upon us. A whole host of events have been lined up to compliment the full racing schedule. Here’s a list of what’s on during the week.

Tuesday 12th August

On Tuesday evening there will be two events held in the marquee – a pub quiz in aid of injured riders fund and the Miss Ulster Grand Prix talent contest. The pub quiz starts at 8pm.

Wednesday 13th August

Practice will take place for Dundrod 150 and Metzeler Ulster Grand Prix with the roads closing from 12pm and due to open again at 9pm. There will also be entertainment in the marquee from Tommy’s Juke Box.

Thursday 14th August

Roads will close at 9.30am for a full day of practice sessions and Dundrod 150 racing as follows:

  1. Dundrod 150 National
  2. Ultra Lightweight/Lightweight
  3. Supertwins
  4. Dundrod 150 Challenge
  5. Dundrod 150 Superbike

The Good Times will provide entertainment in the marquee and there will also be a Metzeler ‘Meet the Riders’ Q & A session in the evening.

Roads are scheduled to open again at 8.30pm.

Friday 15th August 

There will be a Meet the Riders event at Topaz Airport Road Service Station from 11am as well as a Family Day at the paddock where entry is free. From 5pm – 8pm there will be a paddock walkabout while Junior Motor Cycle Trials will be taking place behind the Joey Dunlop Grandstand.

At 5.30pm there will be Grass Track Racing with the Ulster Grand Prix Supporters Club meeting from 7.30pm. There will be a chat show in the marquee and another chance to meet the riders while entertainment will be provided by The Quo Show – a Status Quo tribute act.

Saturday 16th August

Roads will close at 9.30am.

The MS Society Charity Space Hopper Race will take place at 9.30am in front of the Joey Dunlop Grandstand.

When racing gets underway the schedule will be as follows:

  1. Superstock
  2. Supersport
  3. Ultra Lightweight/Lightweight
  4. Superbike
  5. Supersport
  6. Supertwins
  7. Superbike

Following the last race of the day various presentations will take place behind the podium in the paddock.

It promises to be a great week with the likes of Guy Martin, Michael Dunlop and Dean Harrison battling it out on track.
