Force India have revealed their 2015 livery albeit on a 2014 car.
During an event at the Soumay Museum in Mexico City Sergio Perez and Nico Hulkenberg took the covers off the car to reveal a sleek new livery featuring silver and black. While it was the 2014 car on display it had the 2015 nose.
The new livery incorporates several commercial partners including NEC, Claro and Telcel while branding from tequila brand Jose Cuervo features on the car’s headrest. The team are also continuing their partnerships with Smirnoff, United Spirits, Kingfisher and Royal Challenge.
“It’s another evolution of the contemporary look we introduced last year,” Team Principal Dr Vijay Mallya commented. “[It] reflects the growth of the team and the global brands with which we are working. I love the addition of silver, which makes the car appear more sleek and aggressive and I’m sure it’s something that will appeal to the fans as well. Our traditional team colours remain integrated in the livery, but we’ve given it a very modern twist”.
The VJM08 – which will not make its track debut until the second test – has been designed with evolution rather than revolution in mind with the most significant changes appearing at the front of the car. “The front of the car looks very different from what we had developed previously,” Technical Director Andrew Green explained. “It is a redesign that involved a lot of work over the winter, as the new regulations caused a loss in terms of downforce and we’ve been working to claw back all that performance”.
As well as the noticeable differences, the car will also feature subtle changes including modified sculpting of the sidepods and new cooling intakes. Underneath the skin there will be a completely new rear suspension layout with a new hydro-mechanical system replacing the original torsion springs.
