David Johnson is set to make his North West 200 debut this year riding one of Paul Shoesmith’s Ice Valley BMWs.
Johnson has raced at the Isle of Man TT and Ulster Grand Prix in the past but is yet to race at the first International road race of the year. The Vauxhall International North West 200 will take place in May and Johnson revealed it is a race he has always wanted to take part in. He will ride Paul Shoesmith’s 2015 spec BMW S1000RRs in the Superbike and Superstock classes.
The Australian rider made his TT debut in 2010 and finished fourth in last year’s Superstock race. He is currently racing in British Superbikes on a MotoDex BMW and has won races in the British Superstock championship in the past. As well as riding Paul Shoesmith’s BMWs in the Superbike and Superstock classes he will be Smiths Triumph mounted for the Supersport class at the TT. As well as making his North West 200 debut Johnson will make his Classic TT debut later in the year.
Johnson will be joined by Shoesmith and Maria Costello at the team for the North West. Peter Hickman rode for the team last year and was the fastest newcomer at all three International road races.
